ABOUT US

FURNITURE TO CHOOSE

Following an apprenticeship and career in organ building which started in 1996, learning traditional carpentry during restorations and new build work, In 2003 I turned my carpentry skills to making furniture and haven't looked back since. From being a small boy, I have always worked with wood and made various things in the family shed as I grew up, inspired and helped by my granddad. I still have the stool that he made for me, now in my workshop.

FURNITURE TO LOVE

My furniture and household objects are made using mainly traditional methods and from native wood which I source locally wherever possible. My work is made from trees and I try to keep that fact apparent in the finished piece. Burrs and knots in the wood are points of interest and add to the individuality of each item. I work alone with my faithful dog Tom, so although I work as quickly as possible, ordering furniture made by hand can take longer than mass produced furniture to arrive, I think that the finished piece is worth the wait! Unlike many things in our instant, throwaway society, my furniture is made to last and be passed down through generations.

FURNITURE TO KEEP

Over the years I have made everything from church fonts to boot cupboards and most things in between.

I don't make furniture using computerised design packages. My furniture is designed and made by hand and starts with a pencil and paper which is followed up with over 25 years experience!
